Doctoral-Level Oral Health Ingredients
The most common cause of bad breath in cats and dogs is not only dental hygiene, but their oral health. In fact, our oral health provides important clues about our health—as doctors say, it’s a window into our overall health.
When creating Aimé Kitchen™ Classic Feed, we worked with our in-house PhD nutrition expert, Dr. Gary, to develop a new formula that improves oral hygiene. That’s why our Doctor’s Oral Health Formula is a first-of-its-kind recipe designed to improve our pets’ health from the inside. This formula improves the entire microbiome of the oral cavity, leading to a cleaner digestive system and better nutrient absorption. As gut health improves, organ and tissue damage can also be prevented.

Sit down with Dr. Gary today to discuss further the difference between dental health and oral health.
Q: Thinking back to the beginning of our experiment - why did our research team focus on oral health, rather than just dental hygiene?
Dr. Gary: Dental products focus on removing symptoms such as plaque and tartar from your pet’s teeth. However, we decided to focus on your pet’s oral health, which encompasses the entire oral and digestive tract microbiome while specifically targeting the root causes that ultimately lead to dental issues. We specialize in removing bacteria in your mouth that cause tartar and plaque to form. Without bad bacteria, there is no tartar or plaque.
Q: Key ingredients in our foods work hand in hand with oral health ingredients. Can you explain this in more detail for pet parents?
Dr. Gary: Yes, Aimé Kitchen™ Classic Feed contains ingredients like astaxanthin and eggshell membrane, both of which have amazing anti-inflammatory properties that address hidden inflammation in the tissues surrounding the teeth – another root cause of oral health issues.
Q: Last but not least, developing formulas that are close to our pets’ natural diet is an important part of research. Can you provide some details?
Dr. Gary: We assist and facilitate processes that are already happening in your pet's body. The salivary system is very important when it comes to immune and oral health because the salivary glands help protect your pet from the many different microorganisms that attack through the mouth. Saliva is made up of 98% water, but it also contains antimicrobial compounds, enzymes, and electrolytes that are essential for overall health, especially for strong oral health. The proteins and minerals in saliva also protect tooth enamel, preventing tooth decay and gum disease.
